Questions, problems or ideas for Siphon are welcome.

Write to support@occlusion.app. Please mention your macOS version, Siphon's version (select Siphon in the Applications folder and choose File ▸ Get Info) and, if it's about a particular app, which app it is and what it was playing.

Getting started

Open Siphon. A short guide explains it and asks for System Audio Recording, which Siphon needs to hear other apps: click Allow Access… and allow it in the dialog macOS shows.
Siphon lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. Click its icon in the menu bar to open it.
To start Siphon when you log in, turn on Open at login in Settings ▸ General (gear button ▸ Settings…).

Changing volumes

Drag an app's slider. 100% is in the middle; the right half boosts, up to the maximum you choose in Settings ▸ Apps (200% to 500%).
Click the speaker inside a slider to mute or unmute the app. Double-click a slider, or its percentage, to go back to 100%.
The Output card at the top sets your Mac's volume and output device.
The switch at the top turns Siphon off: every app then plays as it would without Siphon. Your settings are kept for when you turn it back on.
Siphon remembers each app's volume. To start fresh every time, turn off Remember each app's volume in Settings ▸ Apps.

Recording

Record All, at the bottom left, records everything you hear. The arrow next to it records one app instead; you can also hover over an app and click its red button.
Stop All ends every recording at once. Files are saved in Music ▸ Siphon, or in the folder you choose in Settings ▸ Recording. There you also choose the format: AAC (.m4a) or Opus (.opus), each at the bit rate you like, Apple Lossless (.m4a) or WAV.
An app's recording is its own sound, before Siphon's volume, so a muted app still records. Record All records what you hear, with Siphon's volumes applied.
The clock button lists recent recordings. Drag the last one from the menu into Finder or any app.
Without Siphon Pro, each recording stops at 1:00 and is kept.

Siphon Pro

Buy it from the gear button ▸ Get Siphon Pro…, from the Free · 1:00 pill in the menu, or in Settings ▸ General. It's a one-time purchase, with no subscription.
On another Mac, or after reinstalling, click Restore Purchase in the Siphon Pro window or in Settings ▸ General.

Common problems

Siphon says it can't hear other apps. Allow it in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen & System Audio Recording, under System Audio Recording Only. Siphon notices by itself when you come back to it.
An app isn't in the list. Apps appear while they play sound. Choose Show All Apps from the gear button to list the others too.
A slider is gray. The app isn't playing right now, so there is no level to show. Its volume still applies when it plays.
The Siphon Pro window can't reach the App Store. Check your internet connection and that you're signed in to the App Store, then try again. Nothing is charged until the App Store confirms the purchase.
