Privacy Policy

Siphon is an app by Occlusion. In short: Siphon doesn't collect any information about you or the sound on your Mac.

Your sound stays on your Mac

With your permission (System Audio Recording, in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security), Siphon hears the sound other apps play on your Mac, to show their levels, to change their volumes and, when you ask, to record them. It does all of this on your Mac and never uploads or shares that sound.

Recordings are saved only where you choose on your Mac: Music ▸ Siphon unless you pick another folder. Siphon keeps its settings, such as each app's volume and the list of recent recordings, on your Mac too.

No data collection

Siphon has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it includes no third-party code. Siphon from the Mac App Store doesn't connect to the internet itself: the macOS sandbox it runs in doesn't allow it to.

Purchases

Siphon Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the purchase and the payment; Siphon only learns from the App Store whether Siphon Pro is unlocked for your Apple Account.

Crash reports

If you choose to share crash data and analytics with app developers in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide Occlusion with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, as described in Apple's privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
